Sequel Pro 0.9.8.1

August 9th, 2010

We’re hard at work on Sequel Pro 0.9.9, with a range of new features – including Tabs, overhauled Export interface and functionality, and improved Procedure support and Multiple result sets.

At the same time, we’ve been collecting your submitted bug reports – thank you very much to everyone who has been submitting those, especially those of you who described what you were doing and with steps to reproduce the issue if you could work it out!

As a result of these we’re releasing a bugfix release which should fix a range of crashes, exceptions, hangs and irritations.

We’ll aim to release bugfixes more often in future.

If you happen to encounter any bugs check the issue tracker first, and report anything new you find. Any questions can be posted to Google Groups.

If you use Sequel Pro on a regular basis, please consider donating $10 or $20 to the project.

I’ve had considerably more crashes since updating than ever before. It’s like every 15 minutes at this point.

I’m downgrading until the next release…

Running Mac OS X 10.5.8 w/ 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR2

Thank you for your work.

Keep the updates coming, this is a great piece of code!

Lance

Noticed one weird thing with this update.

blob columns storing hash’s for passwords and salts are displaying “not loaded”.
Double clicking on the field shows the data is there in the edit window and does display when going back if you cancel/save.

Not a major but freaked me out at first..

David

Hello,
in the next version I’d like to find a visual query builder.

rowan

@Brad – sounds like it could be a 10.5.8 issue. Did you submit the crashes? I can’t see any logged from your email address to check with…

@Lance – that’s controlled by a setting which is (still) off by default – go and untick either:
Preferences > Tables > Don’t load blob and text fields until needed
or click on the pagination “gear” under the content view and untick:
“Defer loading of blobs and texts”.

Yaroslav

@David — yep, visual editor will be cool :) vote for it.

I just wanted to say I love this app. oh, and yes, a query builder in there would be incredible.

Sequel is a fondamental tool in my work. Thanks a lot for making such a high quality piece of software.

The coolest thing of all would be postgres suport. OMG. postgres suppot!

Emmanuel

I love your work, thanks for such a great app making my life easier!

I find Sequel Pro amazing. This is the only MySQL GUI I ever use after I found it. There is only little thing that I would appreciate to add is that it showed the user and server in the title window or somewhere. Let me expose you why it would be good.
1. I have a favourite called FAVOURITE.
2. I do a one time connection and, since FAVOURITE is selected by default, I just change the server, the username and the password.
3. I do a task not related to Sequel Pro.
4. When I come back, I think that I am connected to FAVOURITE, because no connection information is shown appart from the word FAVOURITE.

What I do now to avoid confusion is to never have more than one Sequel Pro window open at the same time and, if I find a window open, I close it right away unless I remember well what I was doing. When you work with the same database in many different servers it is easy to get confused.

PS: Thank you for work!

Thank you so much for offering this wonderful Database manager, I use it all the time on my site, which helps me track all of my inventory and recent sales. I’m currently updating my database so everything works seamless with this software. A big plus that this runs on Mac as I can’t stand Windows with all its crashes.

I will be donating very soon, doing some final testings to make sure everything works as planned.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Great app! Saved me a lot of time today. I also would like to see Postgres support. Then I’d have the ultimate database management application.

A thought on the “Don’t load blob and text fields until needed” option.

It would be nice if you could set “Don’t load blob and text fields until needed” unless size under [ 500 ]. I work with some tables that have binary data (eg images), and I don’t want these loading automatically, but other fields that just contain text I’d like to see by default.

I guess an alternative would be to have separate options for blob and text fields, as the binary data is always in a blob.

As has been mentioned – great work, fantastic product!

Rob

I love this app! I haven’t experienced a single crash with the latest update. Thanks for simplifying my workflow!

Mike

Would be great if you could use Automator to make a MySQL Dump… Doesn’t work right now. Great app btw.

Fellas, I think you should not post your bugs here, as they clearly ask us to do so in their issue tracker system. I don’t think they would come visit this post to look for bugs having such an organized tracking system.

Chris

Just found your app a few months ago… I must say, amazing! Finally I can ditch that slow, buggy piece of $!#@ that is the MySQL workbench — at least 95% of the time. Thanks guys!

Being able to edit stored procedures in SP would be nice though… I saw there’s already a feature request open for that so it’ll probably come sooner than later :)

Thanks for the great software. 0.9.8.1 works well for me. Much nicer to use a native app for managing our databases rather than phpMyAdmin

Robert

Your app still does not allow you to return a resultset via a stored procedure. This should be fixed ASAP as PDO in php supports it without any issues.

Nik

I want you to know how much I love your tool for working with SQL. It was hard work and makes my life much easier. Thank you!

Sean

Cheers
Sean

Joris

Thank you sooo much for your work. Makes my life so much easier.

Fred

Great work for a free software !
Another choice could be to manage the favorites from the window rather than the preference pane.
Congrats !

item

thanks for this great software.

Karl Laurentius Roos

Great work guys! You should put it for free in the Mac App Store!

Jo

How do I open a stored procedure in sequel pro?

I tried this command: show create procedure usp_procedure1. But it is returning me NULL in the create procedure column.

Oliver Kiss

Awesome software! So glad I found it!

sakrist

please, add support sqlite

Alex

Is the project abandoned ? There hasn’t been an update in almost a year and with 10.7 coming I’m worried.

Scott

I certainly hope this project isn’t abandoned. I use it every day. Such an amazing piece of work.

Josh

@Alex, if you look at the nightly builds (http://nightly.sequelpro.com/) I think it is safe to say the project has not been abandoned (last update 18 hours ago as of this comment). They may not have had a new release but it appears they are hard at work. Thanks to the Developers, keep it coming!

Jakob Egger

@Alex: Sequel Pro is far from abandoned. In my opinion, it is already very polished and very usable, so there’s not so much need for frequent updates.

You can have a look at the change list of the code repository if you’re interested how work on Sequel Pro is progressing: http://code.google.com/p/sequel-pro/source/list

Janusz Sobolewski

I love Sequel Pro! Keep up great work guys! And thanks a lot for giving it for free!

Tancredi

Hi everyone, well first of all congratulations for such a simple yet functional sql U,I. Client. I’m pretty new to this software as previously had only experience in phpmyadmin. I’ve to say i find this clearer visually but still probably since I haven’t got enough confidence a bit difficult to use.
Now I’ve a Joomla project at this website: http://www.vrangsinn.net/vrangsinn I’m simply trying to update the remote data using the sequel pro app. I export from my local phpmyadmin and import the locahost.sql file via sequel pro to the remote server.
I’m getting this error now: [ERROR in query 89] Duplicate entry ‘10′ for key ‘PRIMARY’ . The actual changes do not display in my remote project, what can I do to sort this out? please help! thanks and keep up the good job!
