New Sequel Pro Developers

May 17th, 2009

Version 0.9.5 is the best release we have delivered so far, and we have plenty more great features lined up. We would like to introduce two bright new coders who have joined the team, and helped out on the latest release.

Marius Ursache

Marius lives in Timisoara, Romania and works as a PHP developer for a leading multinational company. In his spare time, he enjoys skating, jogging and spending time with his better half.

Marius has made some wonderful contributions to the project, including the overhauling of the printing system.

Hans-Jörg Bibiko

Hans-Jörg lives in Leipzig, Germany, and works as programmer, database administrator/developer, and computer scientist in the linguistic fundamental research. In his spare time he enjoys improving open source applications mainly for Mac OSX, improving his Japanese-German Kanji lexicon, traveling, and learning as much as he can.

Hans-Jörg has made some major improvements to the Custom Query window including improved syntax highlighting, improved completion suggestions, auto-uppercase keywords, added MySQL/Web Help functionality, and main editor functionality.

Please join me in thanking Marius and Hans-Jörg for all their excellent work on the project.

New Release Coming Soon..
The next version of Sequel Pro (0.9.4) is noticably faster! Imports, exports and general browsing — All faster! Sequel Pro 0.9.4 will be an evolutionary release, no significant new features.

Keep your RSS readers pointed to the Sequel Pro blog for our next release announcement.

Sequel Pro Statistics

Sequel Pro has been incredibly popular since we launched nearly a year ago. We have had more than 50,000 downloads of Sequel Pro in total, with more than 25,000 of those from our latest 0.9.3 release.

New Features in the Mix for Sequel Pro 1.0

User Privileges Management, Export Interface Redesign, Redesigned Preferences Window, Contextual Menus

Coming from CocoaMySQL 0.7b6 to Sequel Pro some of you have noticed that the User management system went missing. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to get our hands on the source code for this, to include it in Sequel Pro, but the great news is that Mark is currently working on a fresh new user interface for managing privileges.

Your workflow may require that you Import and Export (or backup) several databases daily. Ben is currently redesigning the export dialogue with a unified interface for exporting to many popular file formats.

A fresh new preferences window and contextual menus are also on the cards for our next big release, thanks to Stuart.

We are working hard to get these and many other exciting features out the door.

Donations

We would like to thank the generous users who have offered monetary contributions to the project, so far. We are almost half way to our goal of $US1000 which we will be putting towards a new app icon for Sequel pro. If you would like to help out it’s as simple as clicking the orange donate button on the donate page.

The Sequel Pro project has been developing rapidly since we started with two developers in April 2008. With six developers now, we thought it was time for the project to have it’s own dedicated web space.

We have some great ideas for Sequel Pro and this website, already in development. The online documentation for the Sequel Pro app will be online by the next point release.

If you are currently linking to the Google Code project or MJMedia website from your blog/forum please consider updating to the new http://www.sequelpro.com/ website.
