September 4th, 2011

It’s been a short 2 months since our 0.9.9 release with 75,000 copies downloaded to your docks and we already have more goodies to share. This bugfix release  gives us a chance to sort out some of the most reported bugs from our users. We also snuck in the new Lion fullscreen feature and polished up a few rough edges that showed up on Lion machines. Enjoy!!

New Sequel Pro icon

December 11th, 2009

You can take the new icon for a spin in our latest 0.9.7 Release Candidate.

We thought it was time for a new icon! The inspiration behind this great icon was to create something that really represented visually what we want from Sequel Pro: an easy-to-use Mac database client.

The dolphin legacy

The dolphin (synonymous with MySQLthe world’s most popular open source database) was first featured in the icon created by Walter Lee Davis for the original CocoaMySQL. We carried the dolphin into the Sequel Pro icon all the way up to our 0.9.6 release, but now it’s time to say goodbye!

MySQL will always be our primary database, but our roadmap also includes support for SQLite and PostgreSQL. So, when deciding on what to include in our new Sequel Pro icon we decided that the database disks could stay, but the dolphin had to go. Sorry!

We are pitching ourselves for a spot in your dock alongside some of the best mac developer tools including Coda, Things and Versions (among others); we really think you’ll love this new icon in your dock!

About the icon

The icon was created by Na Wong, an extremely talented designer from Hong Kong whose work you might have seen before in Postman (iPhone), EventBox (now called Socialite) and Dropzone.

Graphic Artist/UI Designer Wanted

Na recently gave up freelance work to work at SourceBits, so we are now looking for a new graphic artist to fill his shoes.  If you have a portfolio of  exceptional work, preferably experience with Mac icons we would love to hear from you.

You can take the new icon for a spin in our latest 0.9.7 Release Candidate.

New Sequel Pro Developers

May 17th, 2009

Version 0.9.5 is the best release we have delivered so far, and we have plenty more great features lined up. We would like to introduce two bright new coders who have joined the team, and helped out on the latest release.

Marius Ursache

Marius lives in Timisoara, Romania and works as a PHP developer for a leading multinational company. In his spare time, he enjoys skating, jogging and spending time with his better half.

Marius has made some wonderful contributions to the project, including the overhauling of the printing system.

Hans-Jörg Bibiko

Hans-Jörg lives in Leipzig, Germany, and works as programmer, database administrator/developer, and computer scientist in the linguistic fundamental research. In his spare time he enjoys improving open source applications mainly for Mac OSX, improving his Japanese-German Kanji lexicon, traveling, and learning as much as he can.

Hans-Jörg has made some major improvements to the Custom Query window including improved syntax highlighting, improved completion suggestions, auto-uppercase keywords, added MySQL/Web Help functionality, and main editor functionality.

Please join me in thanking Marius and Hans-Jörg for all their excellent work on the project.

New Release Coming Soon..
The next version of Sequel Pro (0.9.4) is noticably faster! Imports, exports and general browsing — All faster! Sequel Pro 0.9.4 will be an evolutionary release, no significant new features.

Keep your RSS readers pointed to the Sequel Pro blog for our next release announcement.

Sequel Pro Statistics

Sequel Pro has been incredibly popular since we launched nearly a year ago. We have had more than 50,000 downloads of Sequel Pro in total, with more than 25,000 of those from our latest 0.9.3 release.

New Features in the Mix for Sequel Pro 1.0

User Privileges Management, Export Interface Redesign, Redesigned Preferences Window, Contextual Menus

Coming from CocoaMySQL 0.7b6 to Sequel Pro some of you have noticed that the User management system went missing. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to get our hands on the source code for this, to include it in Sequel Pro, but the great news is that Mark is currently working on a fresh new user interface for managing privileges.

Your workflow may require that you Import and Export (or backup) several databases daily. Ben is currently redesigning the export dialogue with a unified interface for exporting to many popular file formats.

A fresh new preferences window and contextual menus are also on the cards for our next big release, thanks to Stuart.

We are working hard to get these and many other exciting features out the door.

Donations

We would like to thank the generous users who have offered monetary contributions to the project, so far. We are almost half way to our goal of $US1000 which we will be putting towards a new app icon for Sequel pro. If you would like to help out it’s as simple as clicking the orange donate button on the donate page.

Keep your RSS Reader subscribed to this blog for all news and updates about Sequel Pro.

Peace!

Sequel Pro 0.9.3

New Website Screenshot

The Sequel Pro project has been developing rapidly since we started with two developers in April 2008. With six developers now, we thought it was time for the project to have it’s own dedicated web space.

We have some great ideas for Sequel Pro and this website, already in development. The online documentation for the Sequel Pro app will be online by the next point release.

If you are currently linking to the Google Code project or MJMedia website from your blog/forum please consider updating to the new http://www.sequelpro.com/ website.

Add the FeedBurner RSS Feed to your RSS Reader to keep track of our developments.

Continuing the CocoaMySQL project

November 4th, 2008

We are now the official successor to the CocoaMySQL project.

Links to the final beta versions of CocoaMySQLand CocoaMySQL-SBG are available on the Release Archives page.

We have maintained a great deal of the information from the CocoaMySQL SourceForge website[cocoamysql.sourceforge.net] including screenshots, credits and general project information.

We would like to thank all of the contributors to the CocoaMySQL project, especially Lorenz Textor, for making this our favourite MySQL database management app on Mac OS X
