Sequel Pro 0.9.9

July 1st, 2011

It’s been a long year for us, and we hope you haven’t missed us too much. We have been working hard the whole time creating the most feature rich Sequel Pro we have ever released.

Seriously, you don’t want to miss this update! Start Downloading!

User Interface Features

  • We now have tabs in the main connection window, allowing multiple connections in one window
  • A new bundle (plugin) system makes it easy to add new features to sequel pro, in almost any scripting language. You can share your bundles at http://www.sequelpro.com/bundles/share/
  • Improved keyboard navigation throughout the app
  • Better Mac OS X integration with a QuickLook plugin for viewing files sequel pro can open (including SQL dumps)
  • Improved auto-completion and syntax colors in the SQL editor
  • Literally hundreds more usability improvements
  • Perform a Find (⌘F) while browsing a table now presents an interface to quickly create and apply a WHERE filter.

Translation Support

  • Added German and Russian translation and support for translation for many other languages
  • Many other languages are already in progress. Please help us finish your language by visiting http://translate.sequelpro.com/

Database Features

  • Can now add/rename/browse databases
  • Improved compatibility with many servers where we previously had issues connecting or maintaining a reliable connection
  • Built in support for additional data types/index types/table structures
  • Better performance when browsing large tables
  • All new Import/Export system, much more powerful, faster with large data sets, and easier to use

Congratulations. I use this tool everyday, and it’s more than worth the donation. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)

“Check for Updates” doesn’t find the new release within the software.

Matt Langtree

Kevin: We are working on the “Check for Updates” at the moment. You can just download from this blog post in the meantime if you like. ;)

Jason

This is fantastic. I just donated. Thanks for such a great app.

Anton

Hi! Cool soft!
Do you planned connect to remote host using HTTP tunnel? (like SQLYog, for example)

Marcus

I use this tool everyday. I felt really good about donating back on previous versions and am excited to see what goodies come up out of 0.9 and 1.0!

Better performance when browsing large tables

Yes -> it is much faster! I was so impressed I had to leave a comment :D

Unfortunately this update makes the new version of Sequel Pro pretty much unusable for me. It can’t handle Polish characters properly. It displays the fields as NULL. This bug has been introduced some time ago in the nightly builds of Sequel Pro and then fixed in some build version. Then it came back and stuck ever since. Pity – going back to 0.9.8.

abhibeckert

@Anton yes we do plan to do HTTP tunnelling.

rowan

@Jim: I’ve dropped you an email about getting the Polish character issue sorted; unfortunately this is the first we’ve heard of it. To reassure anyone else reading this, our encoding support has generally improved; unfortunately it does sound like we’ve dropped an edge case, which will hopefully be fixed again soon :)

Awesome work guys! Really love the speed, import/export improvements, tab support and JSON support. It was well worth waiting time!

Rusho

Hi, how do I switch the language? I didn’t find any way to do so.

Matt Torbin

Still the best database development tool out there. You guys rock!

rowan

@Rusho – Sequel Pro uses your system language settings (System Preferences > Language & Text > Language), instead of managing languages itself.

Rusho

well, that’s what I don’t like on man Mac apps, that they use system language and don’t offer an option to override it. This way, if I want to have Sequel Pro localized, I must also have a localized version of other app, whose translation is terrible… I can’t have one localized and the other in English…

Loads of your links in the footer of the blog page go to 404’s (devs, release notes, cocoamysql etc)

EspadaV8

Congrats. This looks like a massive update with a load of great new features. Looking forward to it :)

EspadaV8

The link to this page – http://www.sequelpro.com/bundles/introduction/ – gives a 404 error. Should it be – http://www.sequelpro.com/bundles/usage/ – ?

mattlangtree

Sean, EspadaV8: Thanks for the tip. Fixed now :)

Alex

Absolut best SQL program out there, any further info on postgreSQL support?

Mike

Upgrade broke two queries I have been using for a while.

Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation ‘=’

Time to roll back

Dacio

Hi guys, congratulations on the new release, sequelpro keeps getting better and better, I’ve been a user since the CocoaMySQL days. I’ve been looking forward to see SQLite support since you announce it on 2009. Any news regarding SQLite support, and how can we help to make this happen?

Thanks.

Eugenio Grigolon

Amazing app guys, congrats!

touri

@Rusho – switch the language with

Shane

Anyone else having issues with Exporting results after this upgrade? Any time I try to export, it hangs the program. After numerous attempts it’ll finally work.

Michael

Hey SequelPro, I have been missing you since I switched from MySQL to Postgresql.

Any word on a postgres version?

Michael
