Thank you, thank you guys.

Been using this release as the nightlies fantastic features. Been looking forward to the release.

Truly superb.

Congrats on the great release everybody! Sequel Pro is hands down one of my favorite apps on the Mac, and it just keeps getting better with each new addition.

I can’t say I love the new app icon. Hopefully it’ll grow on me.

Cheers!

Arnan de Gans

What was wrong with the old icon, i like that one a lot better :)

Jack Robinson

Is there a new version for tiger?

trip

Love the favorites browser. Looking forward to sqlite support. Donation on the way.

Tyler

Nice update but I also prefer the old icon. The only time I see it is in spotlight and the old one looks better in spotlight :P

Gregor

YES, what a fantastic early Christmas gift! I love it.

Threading – absolutely brilliant
Process Panel – genius

Those two combined mean no more firing up mysql in a terminal session just to see what’s holding up my query.

Stop Process – YES YES YES

I can’t thank you guys enough for this, what a treat. I’m yelling ‘f*** yes’ many times over as I play with each new feature.

Raul Riera

The app is amazing, won me over Navicat (by FAR) but I can’t say much for the new icon… doesn’t feel DB related at all

Lisandro Grassini

Congratulations guys!!…
Really an excellent update. Love the new features and the new icon.
Thank you very much!!

Daniel

Nice update, as for the icon I just copied the previous version (opened info, clicked the icon, pressed command-c) then replaced it with the newer version and pasted the icon (same process just command-v)

Jérémie

Thanks, you made my day ! Love the pagination interface.

Tom

Brilliant work! A very useful application gets better and better every time :)

uhuznaa

Excellent update, but the new icon looks as if it came from Windows 7 or KDE. It’s not really bad, but the old one was just perfect and a joy to look at.

Still, thanks for the update. Great app.

Simon

Awesome release! Thank you so much for all the hard work!

Although I have to agree with above, new icon is not that hot. :/

Jean-Yves

Great release. Been using it heavily now all morning, and it’s just as stable as the previous release. I’m loving all the little interface tweaks, and…

… Stored Procs are now shown in coloured syntax! Woohoo! Is an SP editor just around the corner? I jolly well hope so. Small point though – could you include the Show and Copy SP CREATE menu options in the contextual right-click menu, rather than just in the Table menu item, which is misleading.

Really great work guys, many thanks. I will be donating today.

(I’ll also put in a vote for the old icon – I have kept it for the latest version. Not that the new one is not good, it’s just that the old one is almost iconic!)

Lailson Bandeira

Sequel is really a *lovely* application. I use it a lot!
BUT “What was wrong with the old icon, i like that one a lot better” [2] =)

Dmitry

Great release, thanks for all your hard work.

I’ll also add that I really like the new icon. It sits perfectly in the Dock — the colors and proportions are just right. I also like the simplicity of it and the unique shape. Simplicity is very important in icons as a lot of details tends to get lost when the icons get smaller. The old icon might have been more interesting but this one is really simple and well executed — it works very well for this app.

Namotco

Thanks for the release! I like the new icon.

Cenk Alti

I think the old icon was better.

Adam

I love this app.

But the new icon looks like a roll of toilet paper.

Joe

I also love this app.

And also think the new icon looks like a roll of toilet paper.

Loved the old icon, wounded.

John

Sorry me too, loved the old icon a LOT (it just looked great in the dock) but the new one doesn’t do it for me :( Doesn’t have that “shininess” to it IMHO.

John

If you want old style icon download a nightly build and copy the icon from that app.

Hanns

I love the previous icon much better, may we perhaps have the option to choose which default icon in the preference?

mtron

Want to say THANKS for an awesome update. All of us on the http://www.catalogchoice.org project love it.

Threading – OMG.
Process killing – Thanks
Expanded query history – Sweet!
Useful query faves – Thanks again!

Sarah

Thank you for the great app. I LOVE the new icon and query favorites editor.

Ted

I guess it’s a good sign when the only complaint is the icon ;) but please, Please, PLEASE bring back the old icon! It was much more professional looking.

John Malis

Nice application, but I think the icon does need to go back
to the drawing board. Miss the dolphin.

John P

Love the new release. There are just a couple missing features/stability issues that is holding it back from perfection:

1) It crashes at least once a day for me (running the latest Snow Leopard). It would be nice if they query window was automatically saved every time you ran a query, and if the program crashes, it will restore the contents when you bring it back up. That would save a considerable amount of time trying to recreate my queries.

2) If it helps, crashes seem to happen most often when adding columns/index or searching large tables

3) There does not seem to be a way to create a multi-column index. The index window just allows you to do one column at a time. That makes creating UNIQUE indexes with multiple columns impossible without writing the SQL by hand

4) I’d like to be able to batch up schema changes on a table to one statement. If you have to add 3 columns to a large table, it is real inefficient to do it one at a time.

5) Tabs in the query pane would be nice to keep the queries organized

You guys are doing a great job and I appreciate the effort!

John

Threading? Seriously? This app is just awsome. Great update.

Christian

Wonderful product!!

Same thing about the icon; Better like the old one! Bring back the old one with the Dolphin!

Thanks!

John

Yes I’m finding this build a bit unstable too. It crashes when left idle, listing the structure of a table that happens to have 214 columns. Don’t ask…

Shane

Many thanks.

BUT!

Is there a way to send queries using only the keyboard? I do a lot of database exploring from the command line and it’s driving me batty having to take my hands off the keys and click “Run Current” every time. Control-Enter for “Run Current”, or something of the kind, would sure be nice.

didier

I’ve been using Sequel Pro for a long time now and the new release 0.9.7 is a real gift. Thank you so much ! But, I agree with John P (January 21st, 2010), especially about the (new) instability. I’m working with OS 10.6.2 and Sequel pro crashes at least once a day. Just doing this : start a query on a distant server, disconnect from the network, wait for the message “retry/reconnect”, choose reconnect -> crash.
Nevertheless Sequel Pro is wonderful, congratulations !

harald

this application would be perfect, if it would support private-key authentication for SSH, too. it’s still a fantastic app, though. thanks very much :)

Matthew

Go back to the old icon, it not only better describes the application’s function, it also looks better.

RowanB

@JohnP/@didier/@John: We’ve had some reports of instability – these should now be fixed in the nightlies. If you back up your data regularly or have access to test databases, additional feedback on the nightlies would be much appreciated to crack the stability!

@JohnP: Multi-column indexes can be (very awkwardly) added via the interface – in the sheet, enter the column names separated by columns (eg [id,ref]). We will improve this!

Batching changes and tabs are much-requested and need a good bit of work, but should be possible at some point.

@Shane: Enter/⌘R will run all the queries; ⌘⌥R will run the current query.

@harald: Private-key auth should be working! Have you tried it, or are you having issues? Further details appreciated if you have them…

Reüel

Thanks for the update! Sequel Pro is really one of my favorite Mac applications as a webdeveloper – love it!

I prefer the old icon too, as said before by someone else, the new icon looks Windows/KDE-ish, previous icon was nice and Mac-ish.

Paul

Love your app. PLEASE bring back the old icon.

name

Could you fix the bug wich apears when program looses connection and gives a dialog with [close], [reconnect] and [ignore]. It just dies every time whatever i click… 0.9.7 has this and r1795 has this too

Jens

Please bring back the old icon (or something like it) in the next release. The new one feels quite unprofessional to say the least.

ronan

Just a little post to say you did a great job on this application.
Thanks for it, really…
Cheers,
Ronan.

Rich Testani

Hate the new icon.

Love this app.

Did I mention I hate the new icon?

harald

@RowanB:

you are right about private-key auth — i probably have made something wrong, last time i had a look at it. indeed sequal pro _is_ already perfect! thanks very much!

RayP

I love sequel pro… if only it didn’t crash on one in every 10 queries. Seriously, stability seems to be the biggest issue at the moment. Please don’t make me have to revert to navi-crap.

RowanB

RayP: we’re aware of stability issues with 0.9.7 and have made lots of progress – 0.9.8 will be out soon and should address your concerns!

Jakob

It would be great if you could include all MySQL SQL keywords in the editor syntax highlighter. Combined with Ctrl+Space auto-completion would really speed up writing queries.

Drema

Thank you!
You planning add standart mysql options to program in contet window (md5, password, etc)?

Dimitre

Hey guys, congrats on the app, killer functionality and GUI.
PS: the older icon is cooler!
