New Sequel Pro Developers

May 17th, 2009

Version 0.9.5 is the best release we have delivered so far, and we have plenty more great features lined up. We would like to introduce two bright new coders who have joined the team, and helped out on the latest release.

Marius Ursache

Marius lives in Timisoara, Romania and works as a PHP developer for a leading multinational company. In his spare time, he enjoys skating, jogging and spending time with his better half.

Marius has made some wonderful contributions to the project, including the overhauling of the printing system.

Hans-Jörg Bibiko

Hans-Jörg lives in Leipzig, Germany, and works as programmer, database administrator/developer, and computer scientist in the linguistic fundamental research. In his spare time he enjoys improving open source applications mainly for Mac OSX, improving his Japanese-German Kanji lexicon, traveling, and learning as much as he can.

Hans-Jörg has made some major improvements to the Custom Query window including improved syntax highlighting, improved completion suggestions, auto-uppercase keywords, added MySQL/Web Help functionality, and main editor functionality.

Please join me in thanking Marius and Hans-Jörg for all their excellent work on the project.

The improvements to the custom query window were sweet!

Great to see the Sequel Pro team growing. Every release just improves on an already outstanding program.

The more I use it the more great new features I notice. Fantastic work, can’t wait for 1.0!

Clay

This is a sweet application. Looking forward to 1.0!

You need tabs. It is very very hard to manage multiple queries at the same time:(

Jay

Many thanks, great app :)

Really wonderful improvements. I use Sequel Pro all day and it makes me much more productive over command line mysql.

I am new to Sequel Pro and MySQL. I have installed MySQL 5.1 on my Mac Pro. I am unable to connect to it using Sequel Pro. I have tried 127.0.0.1 and other suggestions I have read about. The problem I believe is terminology and experience. The experienced users are leaving out very important info that will allow me to figure this out. References are made to “running” /usr/bin/….” I need straight talk, clear information from the beginning in order to get this working.

Where can I look for this info? I know it’s simple for you guys, but for regular folks, it’s not! How can I connect to a database if I cannot connect to make one? This is a catch 22 that is not explained at all.

Please direct me to a CLEARLY written Quick Start Guide for MySQL and Sequel Pro.

Thanks

This is a great application. It is straight forward and really a pleasure tu use. Much better than the common web interfaces for mySQL databases. Looking forward to version 1.0.

Great app, keep it up guys!

I ran into Sequel Pro incidentally and like it instantly, it would be my default MySQL GUI app on Mac.

Josh

Ran semi-broken CocoaMySQL for years and thought it was better than most stuff out there, THANK YOU for turning it into an awesome app as Sequel Pro. Look forward to more updates in the future. :-)

Love Sequel Pro after switching from CocoaMySQL. The new ssh tunneling feature is wonderful and simple to use. I’ve had mixed experiences with the custom query window and console, but it gets better all the time. Great work everyone.
